Young Los Angeles Dodgers sensation Clayton Kershaw got thoroughly roughed up by the Milwaukee Brewers this week, giving up seven runs in 1 1/3 innings. Ouch. But thankfully for Dodgers fans and any of his fantasy baseball owners, Kershaw got right back on the horse and shut down the Colorado Rockies Sunday with eight scoreless innings in a 2-0 win.
Kershaw tied his season high for strikeouts with nine while allowing two hits and three walks. He definitely needed to have a good outing after the Brewers debacle.
So far this season, the 22-year old is 1-2 with a 4.99 ERA. That’s not what the Dodgers are looking for out of their soon-to-be stud. Kershaw has the stuff of an ace, but is still very young and will certainly hit some bumps along the way.
That said, our money says that that ERA will drop significantly over the course of the season. Unless he keeps getting lit up. If that’s the case, then it probably won’t.
