The MVP of the 2012 BCS National Championship game was Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron’s girlfriend, Katherine Webb.
Alabama’s 42-14 blowout victory over Notre Dame was predictably uninteresting. The Fighting Irish are great and had a fantastic season, but they are not one of the top five teams in the nation. They made it into the BCS Championship game because the completed the year undefeated; however, if not for a botched ruling in the Stanford game, they wouldn’t have had that distinction.
Because of how terribly boring the title game ended up being, folks understandably began to turn their attention to other things. Namely: McCarron’s girlfriend.
Now, Opposing Views readers are very familiar with Webb’s work – we scouted her a while back. The rest of the nation, though, they aren't/weren’t as educated. And when you come across a beautiful woman without being prepared, well, this happens:
Brent Musburger, in case you’re wondering, is like 200 years old.
Apparently Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit weren’t the only ones who experienced love at first sight. According to Larry Brown Sports, Webb’s Twitter account ballooned from about 550 followers to well over 100,000 in span of hours. And here is an interesting graphic showing searches for her spiking last night:
So there you have it. McCarron won his second BCS National Championship. He threw for over 250 yards and a total of four touchdowns. He will likely be a Heisman finalist next year. And all anyone wants to talk about this morning is his hot girlfriend.
Let the breakup countdown commence.
