Junior dos Santos Takes a Shot at Alistair Overeem

As Alistair Overeem (36-11-1 NC) continues to sit out his suspension, the UFC's heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos (15-1) has heard enough of the talking from the former No. 1 contender.

"Overeem is a pretty good fighter, but he's starting to talk a lot of s--- now," said Santos to Sherdog Radio. "It's not good for the sport. It's not good for him because nobody wants to see a champion like this, saying the stupid things that he's saying."

After Overeem defeated Brock Lesnar (5-3) to be next in line for a title shot, but was suspended for nine months after a random drug test revealed elevated levels of testosterone in his system. As a result, Overeem lost his chance to challenge for the title, which Santos believes was for the best.

"His results in [past] fights, we can't take that very serious because he failed in the drug test, so it's not good for him," said Santos. "For sure before he failed his test, he was using something illegal too."

If the NSAC grants Overeem a fight license, he will return to take on Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva (17-4) at UFC 156 in February. Santos will defend his title for the second time in a rematch against former champion Cain Velasquez (10-1) at UFC 155. It will be the final UFC show for this year.

"I don't care about who's going to be my opponent to fight for the title," said Santos. "If the UFC decides to put [Overeem] against me, I will fight him."
