Junior Dos Santos Has Some Words for Alistair Overeem

Publish date:

UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos has heard all the talk of him fighting later this year at UFC 152. However, that isn't going to happen, according to "Cigano." In fact, recently, UFC president Dana White even back-tracked on talks of dos Santos-Cain Velasquez II going down in September.

"I don't know actually," said dos Santos, when asked on UFC Tonight why he wasn't included on UFC 152. "After the fight (with Frank Mir), I was feeling some pain on my body, you know, because my camp for the fight is very hard and very tough. So I was feeling some pain, but the UFC didn't ask me to fight there. They didn't tell me anything, so here I am."

Dos Santos secured the UFC heavyweight belt from Velasquez last year, and successfully defended it against Mir. That same night, Velasquez topped Antonio Silva, positioning himself for a rematch with JDS. Of course, there is also the Alistair Overeem card floating around. Overeem is suspended until late in December, but has called out dos Santos in the past week.

"I am afraid? HAHA. Man, the school of Chael Sonnen is going to have more students because now (Overeem) is going to start a lot of crap just because the UFC gave Chael the opportunity to fight Anderson again," dos Santos said. "But if he thinks he's better than me, he can come fight me and when he feels the power of my hands, he is going to change his mind."
