Jose Aldo Won't Move to Lightweight Without Guaranteed Title Shot

In a recent interview with, Andre Pederneiras confirmed that UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo would not be moving to the lightweight ranks without a guaranteed title shot. Pederneiras is the trainer for "Scarface," who recently defeated Chad Mendes at UFC 142.

"It won't happen for now, unless he goes straight for a title shot," Pederneiras said. "Not, 'Oh no, he left the featherweight belt, moved up to lightweight and started from the beginning,' no way."

Aldo has won 14 straight fights and is 21-1 in his MMA career, including the knockout victory over Mendes in front of his Brazilian fans. The current UFC lightweight champ, Frankie Edgar, has a bout with Benson Henderson scheduled for this year.
