Jose Aldo vs. Erik Koch: "I Want to Finish it as Soon as Possible"
UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo was forced to postpone his scheduled match with Erik Koch due to a minor thigh injury. Now, Aldo and Koch will square off on October 13 at UFC 153 from Rio de Janeiro.
Earlier this year, also in Brazil, Aldo knocked out No. 1 contender Chad Mendes with just a second left in the opening round. He'll be looking for the same finish when he takes on Koch.
"Every time I fight, I want to finish it as soon as possible," said Aldo, in a recent interview with Tatame.com. "We ought to see how he plays and then we set a game plan. Then I'm going to know what it's going to be like and what can happen."
Aldo confirmed that he is, "recovered and I'm getting back to the trainings. I'm always 100-percent." He added that he just needs to focus in on the fight part now, as his rehab is over.
Since joining the UFC from the WEC, Aldo has defeated Mark Hominick, Kenny Florian and Mendes, pushing his overall record to 21-1. Koch (13-1) has been out of action recovering from an injury since last September when he defeated Jonathan Brookins for his fourth consecutive victory.
