Jon Jones Offers His Rory MacDonald vs. B.J. Penn Prediction

Out with the old and in with the new breed of fighters, says Jon Jones (17-1). Jones selected Rory MacDonald (13-1) to defeat veteran B.J. Penn (16-8-2) when the two meet later this month.

"I got Rory MacDonald on that fight," said Jones. "I think he's going to finish [Penn]. I respect B.J. a lot, but B.J.'s a guy who's gotten a little comfortable, I think. [With] Rory, it's another one of those things—experience versus ambition. I give ambition the edge every time, being a young guy."

Penn will be making his UFC return after prematurely announcing his retirement over a year ago following a main event loss to Nick Diaz at UFC 137. Since Penn dropped the lightweight championship in 2010, he has had trouble gaining momentum. He has only been victorious in one out of his last three fights.

MacDonald currently sits on a three fight win streak with his only loss coming at the hands of former interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit (28-6).

Penn and MacDonald were originally supposed to meet at UFC 152, but MacDonald suffered an injury in training that required several stitches above his eyebrow.

MacDonald and Penn face off at UFC on FOX 5 this Saturday from the KeyArena in Seattle, WA. As always, will provide live coverage of the event.
