Jeremy Stephens to Make Featherweight Debut in Early 2013

After dropping three fights in a row, Jeremy Stephens (20-9) is ready to change the public's opinion of him when he cuts down to featherweight. Stephens' manager, Ryan Hass, says if everything continues as is, an early 2013 debut is what's being discussed.

"It shouldn't be a problem and [we're] looking for a fight by March," said Hass to MMA Junkie. "His last couple fights have been on short notice, so he's looking to get a full camp with a nutritionist and tweak his training to bring up his speed, but not lose any muscle or power."

Hass said that it was Stephens' idea to switch weight classes for the first time in his seven year career. After two decision losses against Anthony Pettis (15-2) and Donald Cerrone (19-4-1 NC), Stephens was knocked out by Yves Edwards (42-18-1) in round one at UFC on FOX 5.

No date or opponent has been announced by the UFC for Stephens.
