Remember the ageless Jamie Moyer? The one who retired not too long ago after pitching well into his late 40′s? Yeah, um, he didn’t retire.
In fact, after undergoing Tommy John surgery in December 2010, he’s beginning a rehab assignment for the Philadelphia Phillies in Clearwater, FL. Seriously. He’s 48-years old and hoping to be ready by spring training next year. Seriously.
He’s technically a free agent as he doesn’t have a contract with the Phils, but I guess they are helping him out.
“We’re providing him our space in Clearwater and our expertise,” GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said.
He would surely need to sign on with another team as there is no room in the Phils rotation for him.
