The brains behind the New York Jets inept offense
The Jets are a very talented team. There is no doubt about it. Yet, it seems that the talent is completely under-utilized. We have players on our offense such as LaDainian Tomlinson, Shonn Greene, Santonio Holmes, Braylon Edwards and Dustin Keller. Yet in our three loses we have scored a total of 9,0 and 3 points.
Some might blame it on Mark Sanchez, but I completely blame in on the Offensive Coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.
Schotty is 0-3 this season coaching with an extended weeks rest or on his bye. Usually teams improve their game plans when given the extra time, Brian Schottenheimer just spends the days out thinking himself. His play calling skills are honestly awful, I sit back in my living room watching the game and can predict the plays before they actually happen. Last night I was begging for some play action to ease Sanchez back into the game, but we saw shotgun after shotgun after shotgun. I wonder if we are going to run or pass out of shotgun Schotty?
Brian Schottenheimer might be thought by some as a scapegoat here, but he isn’t in my opinion. The Jets offense has never been explosive under Shotty, they just haven’t. He is a leftover from the Mangini era, and you know what you do with the leftovers in the fridge? Throw ‘em in the trash (Minus Mike Westhoff of course). This team is too good to be ruined by Shottenheimer’s poor play calling. I heard the Broncos are looking for a new head coach? I’d love for them to take Schotty off of our hands and off our sidelines.
So please, Woody Johnson and Mike Tannenbaum, fire Brian Brian Schottenheimer while we can still salvage this season. Obviously I know this won’t happen as the Jets are 9-3 and still playoff bound, but Brian Schottenheimer is literally the cement block holding down the Jets foot as we get thrown into the Hudson. Can we cut the links attached to the cement block and swim back to the surface? I hope so, but there is only way way to do it.
