Ian McCall Hopes to Get a Big Win vs. Joseph Benavidez

Ian McCall entered the four-fighter UFC flyweight tournament as a favorite to claim the title. However, following a judging error that resulted in a draw with Demetrious Johnson, McCall was defeated by the eventual UFC champion.

Now, sitting at 0-1-1 in his brief Octagon career, McCall is hoping to get himself in the win column as soon as possible. "Uncle Creepy" will get that opportunity when he faces Joseph Benavidez at UFC 156: Aldo Vs. Edgar in February.

"I'm going to prove to the world that I'm not just a show-off. I can actually win," said McCall, during an interview with "I'm no longer happy with my career at this point. I need a win. I came to the UFC claiming to be world champion."

McCall (11-3-1) and Benavidez (16-3) were each defeated by Johnson as "Mighty Mouse" claimed the first-ever UFC flyweight title. That leaves McCall feeling on the outside looking in when it comes to a future championship match.

"I mean, think about it. Honestly, neither of us deserve it," McCall said. "I think Demetrious beat bouth of us. I would say maybe this one, if I win it convincingly, and then fight whoever else after this, then maybe."
