Hope Solo, U.S. Women’s Soccer Team Narrowly Avoid Hotel Shooting

U.S. women’s soccer star Hope Solo and her teammates narrowly avoided a terrifying hotel shooting on Tuesday.

According to USA Today, a man was shot to death at the Vancouver, Canada hotel hosting the U.S. women’s team during their Olympic qualifying tournament.

Police were reportedly called to the Sheraton Wall Centre shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday in regards to a violent incident that occurred in the lobby. They eventually found a man dead from apparent gunshot wounds in one of the hotel’s restaurants.

Shortly after word of the incident leaked, U.S. Soccer Federation spokesman Neil Buethe released a statement that none of the women’s team members witnessed the shooting.

Solo, who on top of her impressive soccer credentials also appeared on the latest incarnation of Dancing With The Stars, tweeted this regarding what happened:

"Saved by our instant yoga session. Was about to walk to starbucks when all hell broke loose in the lobby of our hotel! Life is precious..."

The U.S. team begins tournament play this Thursday versus the Dominican Republic.
