Kevin McClatchy, the former owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates and now the board chairman at the McClatchy Company newspaper chain, said in an interview with The New York Times that he is gay. The interview, which appeared online Saturday and in Sunday print editions, is the 49-year-old McClatchy’s first public acknowledgement of his sexual orientation.
McClatchy led a group of investors that purchased the team in 1996 and served as the team’s managing general partner and chief executive officer until 2007. During his 11-year tenure the Pirates were 783-996 (a .439 winning percentage) wining an average of just 71 games per season.
I don’t get it? Why does it seem that so many people who are gay seem to find the need to announce to the public what they do in the bedroom?
Is there nothing in one’s life that can be private? I don’t care if a dude’s significant other is a woman, a man, or himself.
It’s no one else’s business!
