Former Penn State Assistant Football Coach Jerry Sandusky Found Guilty of Child Sex Abuse

Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky was found guilty on 45 of 48 counts in his child sex abuse trial. He had been accused of molesting 10 different boys over a 15-year span.

Sandusky, 68, will spend the rest of his life in jail.

The verdict came after 21 hours of deliberations by a jury made up of seven women and five men – many of whom had very close ties to Penn State and the surrounding community.

A large crowd that had formed outside the courtroom cheered loudly when the verdict was announced.

Many thought that Sandusky would take the stand in his own defense at some point during the trial – but that ultimately never materialized.

His team is expected to appeal the verdict.
