Mayweather and Mosley Ready for Ring

Floyd Mayweather and Shane Mosley meet in the ring on Saturday May 1, in what is one of the most anticipated boxing matches of the year.

Mayweather will be fighting for the first time since the fallout with Manny Pacquiao in a fight that never transpired.

Back in early March at the weigh in, both Mayweather and Mosley got toe-to-toe with each other and had a minor scuffle, which only hyped up the tension between the two fighters.

“You’ve got to remember, Floyd and Shane have known each other for a long time. And when they went to face off, there was a little physical contact,” said Kelly  Swanson, an event organizer.

“I guess it was a case of them getting too close to each other.”

Mayweather brings his undefeated record of 40-0 to the ring  with Mosley sporting a 46-5  record, as the two veterans meet for the first time.

“It takes two to make a mega-fight. Shane Mosley is one of the best welterweights of our era, and I want to fight the best and continue to fight the best,” remarked Mayweather.

“I am not only in the fight business; I am in the check-cashing business. I am able to generate millions of dollars,” said Mayweather. “They say Shane is the WBA champion, but we all know that belts do nothing but collect dust.”

When the two meet on May 1, Mosley will be making his first appearance in nearly a year and a half, out of action for 16 months.  He last fought in in January of 2009, and defeated Antonio Margarito in the ninth round by way of a knockout.

“It has been a long time since I have had a chance to show the world that I am the best fighter. I have wanted to be the best and have people understand that I am the best,” remarked Mosley. “May 1 symbolizes something. After this fight, it is going to be clear. It is going to be the date of Mayweather’s first loss.”

Mosley has agreed to the Olympic-style drug testing that Mayweather and Pacquiao could not.

“I just want to say I am going to take my hat off to Mayweather. For a minute, I wasn’t going to get a fight from any of these top fighters, and now I will,” said Mosley.

“I would like to say that it is going down May 1, and it is going to be me and Money Mayweather,” said Mosley. “After this fight, there won’t be anything else to pick. It is going to be clear that there is an a** whooping, and I am about to give it to him.”

Leonard Ellerbe is an adviser to Mayweather and said that this fight is 10 years in the making, as Mayweather has wanted to fight Mosley for a decade.

“This fight has been in the making for 10 years. It’s going to be a hot, hot fight. Shane knows what’s coming. He just doesn’t want to admit it, but he knows. Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather is ready,” remarked Ellerbe.

Online Sportsbooks agree with Ellerbe’s assessment, having installed Mayweather as a -450 favorite defeat Mosley and maintain his undefeated record.  Mosley assumes the underdog role, at +350.
