Remember how just a few weeks ago Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao were being shockingly nice to one another? How Mayweather, for once in his life, was keeping his mouth shut and not lobbing insults at his Filipino counterpart? How Pacquiao was being generous and humble, making necessary sacrifices with money and performance-enhancing drug (PED) testing in order to put a bout together? Remember when folks (read: Manny) said we were “80-90 percent” there, in terms of coming to an agreement?
Yeah, those days are history.
In the here and now, it’s all about Mayweather stirring up unnecessary drama on various social media outlets, creating unproductive hostility that almost guarantees a fight won’t happen. And Pacquiao is equally culpable, of course, hiding behind Bob Arum’s unreasonableness and using that as an excuse not to fight his undefeated counterpart.

Will all this prodding work? Probably not. But, apparently, it’s as close as we’ll come to these two squaring off against each other anytime soon.
