Former Michigan State basketball player Brandon Wood currently finds himself in a very dicey legal predicament.
Wood, 23, was arrested early Sunday morning after attending a large get-together in Chicago. At that gathering, he apparently got into some sort of an altercation and was eventually asked to leave. He ultimately obliged the request and left, but not before allegedly reaching through the gate and slapping an 18-year-old girl in the face.
He also reportedly found time to drop this great quote before leaving, according to the victim’s cousin (via MLive):
"And (Wood) started cursing at me and saying, 'Do you know who I am? I'm the best player at Michigan State! Don't you know who I am?'" He then unleashed a series of profanities at Soria, she said.
After he left the residence, Wood was eventually apprehended by local police. He is scheduled to appear June 1 in the Circuit Court of Cook County in Chicago.
Wood was Michigan State’s third leading scorer last season. Not the team's best player. Not second best. Third leading scorer. Most presumed that he would lay low this summer and work out in preparation for June’s NBA Draft. Apparently not, though.
It’s probably safe to say that following this incident, he can save himself the trouble of working out – no team will bother selecting a player with this much baggage at any point in the draft.
(Kudos to The Big Lead for the find)
