Ohio State Star Evan Turner Headed to NBA

Ohio State point guard Evan Turner has decided to skip his senior year and enter the NBA draft.

“This is the toughest thing I had to do,” he said with his voice breaking. “But I was blessed with this decision and I have a great opportunity. I’m going to turn a leaf over and go on to the next stage of my life.”

Turner has great size for a point guard, standing at 6-foot-7, a position that coach Thad Matta moved him to before the season started.  It turned out to be a great decision.  Turner averaged 20.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 6 assists per game while shooting almost 52% from the field.  He captured Big Ten Player of the Year honors and led his team to two NCAA tournament wins before losing to Tennessee.

Turner will most likely be drafted in the top three on June 24th.
