Floyd Mayweather Jr. has won 43 fights over the span of 16 years. He has won eight major world titles. He has consistently been regarded as one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world for as long as anyone can remember. And en route to all those accomplishments, he has never lost a bout. Ever. No matter what happens from here on out, regardless of how he fares over his last few years in boxing, Mayweather’s place in the sport’s lore is etched in stone.

He’s a legend.

Once you establish that Mayweather will remembered in a positive light regardless of what happens from here on out, you can shift the discussion to more delicate areas.
