Eddie Alvarez to Spurn UFC, Stick with Bellator?

Most seemed to think Eddie Alvarez (24-3) would join the UFC roster after he recently fulfilled his Bellator contract, but it may not happen after all according to his manager Glenn Robinson.

"Bjorn and Eddie had a great conversation and had some great talks," said Robinson to MMA Weekly. "Bjorn has expressed interest in keeping Eddie, and talks have gone really well, and that's all I can really say at this point."

Alvarez started with Bellator in their debut and went 9-1. Along the way he won the lightweight championship, but lost in his first defense. At Bellator 76, Alvarez made his last contracted fight coming home with a first round KO victory after a kick to the head.

A decision isn't expected for some time. Due to the nature of Bellator's contracts, they have a three month period where they can match any offer to the former champion.

Whatever the final decision is, Alvarez just looks to continue fighting soon and looks to climb up the welterweight ladder.

"He doesn't want to sit out too long so we'd like to get things wrapped up," said Robinson. "Bellator has a 90 day negotiating period, so we're finishing talks with them and we have to see where things go with that."
