Donald Cerrone Handled Business at UFC 150

Publish date:

Donald Cerrone and Melvin Guillard displayed plenty of friendship prior to their fight Saturday night in the co-main event of UFC 150: Henderson Vs. Edgar II. Once the Octagon door closed, the two former sparring partners threw everything they had at the other.

Cerrone was the one that landed the biggest blows, connecting with a head-kick that wobbled Guillard before hitting him with a huge right hand that dropped him to the canvas in the first round.

Guillard, however, nearly finished "Cowboy" in the first minute, catching Cerrone coming in and flooring him. Cerrone survived and thrived just a few seconds later.

"Right now," was Cerrone's answer during the post-fight interview when asked when he started feeling better from the shots by Guillard.

Cerrone wanted a fight at this event because he grew up in nearby Colorado Springs. Despite fighting just a few weeks ago, Guillard accepted the bout and it remained on despite "The Young Assassin" missing weight.

"(Melvin) came in aggressive and he hit me hard," Cerrone said. He yelled out for the fans, "Yeah Denver," in celebration.
