It's pretty funny that there is all this hype about Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson making comments about Washington Redskins QB Donovan McNabb.
Sure, the media likes to stoke the flames, but there is another quote from DeSean that should be getting the attention.
Specifically, in the Sporting News article that everyone is talking about, Jackson claims that offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg challenged his toughness while he was dealing with a concussion.
“I can remember we went up to New York (Week 14) – that was a huge game for us,” Jackson said. “The week before, [the Giants had] beaten Dallas and I didn’t play (at Atlanta) because I had a concussion. It was iffy if I’d come back and play. Our offensive coordinator, Marty Mornhinweg, said some things, trying to question my toughness. I was like, ‘Coach, I just got a concussion. This I my brain. If it’s anything else, my shoulder, whatever, I’m going to play.’”
Wow. Double wow.
We’re talking about his McNabb comments? This guy just publicly called out his offensive coordinator for not taking his concussion seriously.
Think concussions are a big deal right now in the NFL? At a time when coaches, execs and players are supposed to be taking extra caution, Jackson is making a statement that this particular coach is not being careful with the player.
We wonder what Roger Goodell will have to say about this.
