Derrick Rose gave Bulls fans the kind of performance last night they’ve been waiting to see for over two years now. True, Rose’s Bulls lost 107-98 to the Cavaliers, but it's the preseason -- that’s not important. What is important, though, is how good Rose looked.
Rose scored 30 points in just 24 minutes against the Cavs, and he looked extremely explosive doing it. The signature burst was back. The 3-point range was back. The insane level of body control in traffic was back. Rose looked every bit the part of the player who won the NBA's MVP award in 2011.
After multiple injury-riddled seasons and a subpar performance at this summer’s FIBA World Cup, a performance like this is exactly what Bulls fans, and NBA fans everywhere, needed to see.
Here’s Rose’s highlight reel from the night:
If Rose can stay healthy, the Bulls have a great shot at being a top team in the Eastern Conference this year. That’s a huge if, of course, but so far, so good.
