Delusions of Grandeur: Cuban Thinks Mavs Can Beat Lakers

Mark Cuban is at it again. He's stirring things up inside the NBA.

While he is a much respected Opposing Views contributor, just like yours truly at The Daily Heat, Cuban has a tendency to build up his Dallas Mavericks to epic proportions. There's no better example of this than his recent comments on whether the Mavs can beat the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Lakers.

"Hell yes," Cuban said. "That's it. Hell yes. We've got the size now. We've got the depth. We've got a lot more depth than the Lakers. It's not even close there," he said. "We're going to have so much depth that it's really going to give us an advantage this year," he said. "All our guys are coming in with one focus only and that's to win a championship. That's the goal."

Look, the Mavericks aren’t a bad team by any stretch. You could argue they’re the second best team in the Western Conference, particularly if the Denver Nuggets move malcontent Carmelo Anthony. That being said...
