Line of the Night:Dwight Howard (2.97) doesn’t win our line of the night award too often. When he does take it down, it’s normally when he nails most of his free-throw attempts. All told, in spite of a few missed games, Howard has been one good, dependable trooper for his fantasy owners this season. He started off the fantasy playoff week by kicking down the door, filling up the stat sheet, yes making his free throws (10-12), and taking names. Fine, he probably didn’t have time to take names, as he was too busy kicking Cavalier butt to the tune of 28 points (9-11 from the field), while grabbing 18 boards, dishing 4 assists, getting 4 steals, and 4 blocks. The four-steal, four-block was pretty sweet as his owners must have savored his initial offering for fantasy’ playoff week.
Meanwhile Kevin Garnett (1.84), and the rest of the Boston Celtics made New York look more like Old York. Wait. No. That would be in the UK, and saying “Old New York” would just sound off. Oh never mind, the Knicks just sucked. Big time. Like they used to. It looks like they might have to wait for their “third” super friend before actually breaking back into the playoffs. They aren’t really making things difficult for their opponents to make things difficult for them. I mean KG just torched ‘em for 24 points (10-15 from the field, 4-4 from the line), 11 rebounds, and 4 steals. I mean c’mon! This is the dude, who’s supposed to be getting extra rest as the team gets ready for the post-season.
Tim Duncan is hurt and out indefinitely. Bad News for the Spurs. Good news however for Manu Ginobili (1.65) owners as he took it upon himself to dial things up a notch via 28 points (4 threes, 6-6 from the line), and 3 steals.
…and yet ANOTHER impressive Marcus Thornton (1.46) night as MT partied like he was being coached by anyone not name Monty Williams. It does kinda help that he’s now a starter for the Kings. Expect more lines like 25 points (9-14 from the field), 4 assists, and 3 steals.
The Denver Nuggets don’t seem to be missing Carmelo Anthony too much. They’re winning more now that he’s gone. It also looks like they aren’t missing Chauncey Billups too much either, because Ty Lawson (1.40) has been doing a dang fine job (well on most nights) as his replacement. Lawson delivered 23 points (7-10 from the field, 7-7 from the line), and 8 assists as Denver cruised passed the Raptors. Easily.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night:Keith Bogans (1.45) came up with a moot WWLOTN, as I can’t really recommend picking him up. He’s just too damn erratic to be counted on in this critical stage of the game. At 1% ownership, I doubt anyone really got to appreciate his 15 points (3 threes, 6-9 from the field), 4 dishes, and 3 steals. Well no one in fantasy, I mean. I’m sure the Bulls and their fans did. Duh!
Pick Up Lines: With B-Diddy missing time, Daniel Gibson (1.40) is the perfect stream candidate if you’re looking for AST, 3PTM, and a few STL. His 16 points (7-11 from the field), 6 assists, and 2 steals performance points to that direction. He’s 23% owned in Yahoo.
Kyle Korver (1.27) is a reasonable cycle-add if you’re looking for threes. 18 points (4 threes, 7-11 from the field), 2 steals. As if I had to tell you guys that… c’mon now!
Andrei Kirilenko (-1.01) had a very off night as he only managed to trickle into the stat sheet where it counts and kind of hurt us in the TOs department in the process. 5 points, 1 rebound, and 4 turnovers were fugly, but we expect AK to bounce back from this bad game. He’s filled out his requisite number of missed games at this point. Let’s just hope he doesn’t decide to outdo himself. Ha ha!
