Fable-generator In Touch magazine has been very busy indeed.
The tabloid’s published a yarn today alleging that David Beckham slept with a $10,000-a-night hooker in a New York hotel room in August 2007, shortly after he joined the LA Galaxy team, and at Claridge’s hotel in London a month later.
Word according to the magazine (as it appears in its print issue, not online – which hints that Beckham’s lawyers are already on the case):
“In a worldwide exclusive interview with In Touch, Irma Nici, a former high-class call girl, claims she’s slept with the world’s most famous soccer star, David Beckham, five times in 2007 and spills every dirty detail of their affair. ‘It was a high,’ Irma, 26, tells In Touch. ‘All of these women dream of being with him, and I got to hook up with him. It was very exciting.’”
David and Victoria have since piped up to deny the allegations made by ex-prostitute Nici.
A statement released by his spokesman read: “The allegations that have been made are completely untrue and totally ridiculous as the magazine was clearly told before publication.
“Sadly we live in a world where a magazine can print lies and believe they can get away with it,” adds the rep. “We are taking legal action against the magazine.”
Meanwhile, the magazine is sticking by its story.
“In Touch would like to reaffirm that we stand by our reporting and have confidence in the credibility of the multiple sources we quote in the story,” it said in a statement.
