Darren Elkins is Looking to Make a Statement Against Steven Siler

With the featherweight championship still relatively new to the UFC, some fighters think it might be their turn to shine. Darren Elkins (14-2) has his next fight against Steven Siler (21-9), where Elkins thinks the winner will have a heavy sway the contender area.

"[Siler's] coming off of three consecutive wins," said Elkins on Sherdog Radio. "I'm coming off of three consecutive wins. We're both kind of under the radar. I figure the winner of this is going to be one of the first people at featherweight to be 4-0, so probably the winner of this fight gets a big step up."

Siler is undefeated in the UFC grabbing three wins in under a year. His last fight was a submission win in June that took less than three minutes. After a 1-1 UFC start for Elkin, he became a featherweight in 2011. He has won his last three fights via unanimous decision with the most recent being at UFC 146. Elkin looks to stop more fights in the future.

"Obviously I haven't really had a lot of finishes in the UFC," said Elkins. "I've really been trying to work on trying to get some finishes. I'd like to go for a finish."

Elkin vs. Siler takes place November 17 at UFC 154. They are set for the opening fight that will air on Facebook.
