Dana White Seemed to Think Frankie Edgar Won at UFC 144

Frankie "The Answer" Edgar lost his UFC lightweight title last night in Japan to Benson Henderson, though many felt that he deserved to win the decision that officially went in Bendo's favor.

Edgar and Henderson battled hard for five rounds, with both men getting in their shots and having their moments. The only scores that matter had Henderson winning a unanimous decision when all was said and done, but UFC president Dana White saw things differently.

"Well, I'm not a judge, but I had the fight even going into the last round and I gave the last round to Frankie," White told Ariel Helwani on the Fuel TV post-fight show. "You know, this is one of those fights that's tough to score. Even on Twitter, I was asking people, 'How do you have it?' Some people had it the way I did, some other people had it going the other way, for Ben."

It was announced last night that Anthony Pettis -- the man who Showtime Kicked Henderson off of the WEC lightweight throne in 2010 -- is tentatively the next contender to the belt, clearly eliciting some bitterness from Edgar, who had to give two immediate rematches to both BJ Penn and Gray Maynard after close, controversial title fights.

When asked whom he'd be pitting against Henderson first, White denied to make a firm call, but did say in no uncertain terms that he's among those wishing Edgar would make the cut to featherweight, despite being one of the best lightweights on the planet.

"I don't know. It's not one of those things that I'm gonna make a decision about right now," he said of the next number one contender. "There are so many fights out there in the '55lbs. division. Frankie's thing was tonight, you know, 'Hey, I gave two instant rematches, so I think fair is fair. I think I should get one.' But, I would really love for Frankie to move down to 145lbs."

Edgar and Henderson battled in the main event of UFC 144, which went down last night from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. For results and a full recap of the event, click here.
