Dana White Offers an Interesting Take on Silva vs. Sonnen II

Chuck Liddell-Tito Ortiz. Matt Hughes-Georges St-Pierre. Brock Lesnar-Frank Mir. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson-Rashad Evans.

All of those were intense rivalries that the UFC used to help build what has become the No. 1 fighting promotion in the world today.

However, this Saturday night, a new rivalry could overtake the top spot, as UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva takes on Chael Sonnen at UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II.

"If not No. 1, it's up there," said UFC president Dana White, in a recent interview with MMAjunkie.com. "I've never been in a situation where a guy says, 'This guy's such a disrespectful punk, he doesn't deserve this shot - and I'm not gonna fight him.'"

White had to push, and push hard, for Silva to take the rematch with Sonnen. The first was originally scheduled for Brazil last month, but issues forced the move to Las Vegas and this holiday weekend.

Sonnen has made it his goal in life to get a second chance at defeating "The Spider." Back in 2010, Silva scored a fifth round submission victory in a fight he was down on all the scorecards in to retain his belt. Sonnen has defeated the likes of Brian Stann and Michael Bisping to get back to the No. 1 contender position and a crack at Silva.
