Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow developed into a mythical cult figure over the course of this past NFL season. Even though his football skills aren’t especially impressive, his unique combination of charm and charisma helped him win over America in a way that we haven’t seen an athlete be able to do in a very long time. Sure, the guy had his haters – but the haters were rebelling about the piles of adoration heaped upon Tebow, not anything Tebow actually did.
With that in mind, it really shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone that America’s new hero, New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin, is also a huge Tebow fan. Even though Lin is arguably better at what he does than Tebow was at what he did, the Big Apple’s newest shining star has nothing but love for all that Tebow stands for.
During a recent interview with 95.7 the Game in San Francisco (via Sports Radio Interviews), Lin had this to say on the subject of being inspired by Tebow:
“Actually a lot of inspiration just because he’s such a polarizing figure but I think the things he says in interviews, his approach to the game is just unbelievable and I respect him so much. I want to be able to do some of the things that he does in terms of the amount of charity work and the non-profit work, and the way he impacts people off the field. I think that is what is most inspiring to me about him.”
So there you go. Tebow is literally transcending football and is now serving as an inspiration to stars from other sports. It’s crazy. Linsanity is nice – but clearly Tebowmania can’t be stopped.
