College football's complex formula for determining a national champion, known as the BCS system, has become so controversial it's even reached Congress. This week lawmakers heard from BCS coordinator John Swofford, who insisted that the BCS is crucial to college football's success and should remain intact. On the other side of the issue, Texas Rep. Joe Barton went so far as to compare the BCS to communism, saying, "It's like communism, you can't fix it. Sooner or later you're going to have to try a new model."
