The final semifinal bouts of Bellator’s fourth season takes place this weekend in the light heavyweight division at Bellator 42. Live from the Lucky Star Casino in Concho, Oklahoma the remaining four light heavyweights will be cut down to the two finalists.
Tim Carpenter (7-0) is coming off a split decision victory over Daniel Gracie and will be taking on the tough Christian M’Pumbu (16-3-1) who finished Chris Davis in his quarterfinal bout. The decision win by Carpenter should come as no surprise as the 30 year old fighter out of Philadelphia has over half of his wins via the judges scoring in his favor. M’Pumbu though finishes the majority of his bouts before the judges can play a part in the outcome, much to the delight of the fans. The undefeated Carpenter though will enter the cage as a slight betting favorite over the more experienced M’Pumbu.
In the other semifinal bout, Richard Hale (16-3-1) will look to build on his impress submission victory over Nik Fekete via inverted triangle choke when he takes onD.J. Linderman (9-1). Linderman defeated Raphael Davis with a third round TKO to advance to the semifinals and will enter the fight with Hale as a slight underdog. Both fighters are well rounded and have consistently finished their opponents before the judges’ factor into the fight.
Bellator 42 was scheduled to be headlined by a heavyweight bout between the Bellator heavyweight champion Cole Konrad and the well traveled Paul Buentello. The bout was removed due to an injury suffered by Buetello and will be moved to a later event.
Rounding up the televised portion of the card will be two bouts featuring the lighter weight classes. To replace the removed heavyweight bout, a featherweight bout between Josh Arocho and Ronnie Mann was added to the card. This fight was suppose to take place back at Bellator 40 but Visa issues by Mann forced the bout to be re-scheduled. The final main card bout is in the bantamweight division between Luiz Alberto Nogueira (no relation to the Nogueira brothers) taking on Jerod Spoon.
The card will also feature four preliminary bouts that will feature local fighters to the area rounding out the Bellator 42 fight card. Having the MMA community to themselves this Saturday Bellator 42 boost a main card that should be full of exciting action, enjoy it now though Bellator because next weekend it will be a completely different story…..
