College Football Recruiting: Could David Williams End Up with South Carolina?

Running back David Williams is one of the top running backs in the country for the class of 2013.

He has plenty of choices on the table for his future but he's narrowed his focus on a final three of South Carolina, Penn State and Wisconsin.

It was long thought that Williams would ultimately choose Penn State due to the proximity to his home and his connection with other Penn State recruits. However the situation at Penn State will likely open his eyes and force him to look elsewhere.

South Carolina was already in great shape here for Williams but may be considered the front-runner at this point. He's visited campus a few times already and has been recruited heavily by the Gamecocks up till this point. The Gamecocks landed a running back commitment in Jamari Smith a few weeks back but it looks like the Gamecocks will continue to look for another running back. The staff may feel like they need to replace senior Kenny Miles and the potential loss of junior Marcus Lattimore.

The running back depth chart looks pretty full right now for South Carolina but, you take away Lattimore and Miles, and 2013 could be a free-for-all for all Gamecocks on board. This might be something sticking in the mind of David Williams which has kept South Carolina in the running this entire time.

South Carolina has their eyes on two running backs left in the 2013 class: Greg Bryant and David Williams.

If I had to put my money on USC signing one of the two, I'd put it on Williams.
