College Basketball Recruiting: Who Will South Carolina Nab Next?

The South Carolina men's basketball program is in rebuilding mode post-Darrin Horn. Coach Frank Martin and assistant coach Brad Underwood have been, it seems, zig-zagging across the east coast in search of the right recruits for the Gamecocks program.

So who is next to give a verbal?

Will it be center Jordan Dickerson? He is a 7'1" tall recruit that is getting heavy interest from the Gamecocks. He currently attends IMG Academy in Florida but has a close connection to Gamecock signee Thaddeus Hall. Dickerson is originally from New York.

Most think it is down to either USC or Providence but don't rule out somebody like Auburn or St. John's.

He began his visit to USC on Sunday and leaves on Tuesday. With South Carolina losing forward Damontre Harris, transferred to Florida, the Gamecocks could use the boost that Dickerson's size around the rim could bring.

You can not teach tall or length and Dickerson has that. He could use some help on the offensive side but even there he is solid as he averaged 10 points, eight rebounds and four blocks per game this past season.

Let's hope Dickerson pulls the trigger and gives the verbal to Coach Martin. I would love to see USC go from having no big men really to two 7-footers. We've said it before but Coach Martin is doing all the right things for USC early and will be great to see where he takes this program.

Another young player to keep a eye on is current/former Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles basketball player LaShay Page. He is considering a transfer to the University of South Carolina after being granted a release so he can get closer to family.

The 6'2" combo guard played two years at Southern Miss where he avergaed 9.6 points/game and shot 34.7% from three-point range. Before his USM stint he was at Chippola JC and is a South Carolina native (Latta). He will have one year to play at USC.

With USC looking at just one scholly to give for the 2012 class, it could be up to whom says yes first between these two as both would be a nice addition. Stay tuned to see who says yes to becoming a Gamecock.
