Michael Carrera has made the grade and now is bound to join the South Carolina basketball program.
Carrera had given his verbal pledge to be a member of Coach Frank Martin's Class of 2012 back in July but official admission was delayed due to a pending academic decision. With that hurdle now cleared, Carrera is officially a Gamecock.
The 6-fot-6 forward is a great add as the Gamecocks will be without Anthony Gill and Damontre Harris during the 2012-13 campaign. Carrera should be a automatic boost underneath the basket and provide a nice spark on offense. He should fit in well under Coach Martin's scheme.
Carrera chose USC over the likes of Pitt, Memphis, UAB, and Richmond just to name a few.
