Chiefs' Fans Look To Scream Their Way To A World Record Monday Night

Want to be a part of a Guinness World Record? Then head down to Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on Monday night. There, during the Chief’s Monday Night Football showdown with the Patriots, the Arrowhead faithful look to break the record for the world’s loudest stadium – again.

In case you aren’t familiar, the Chiefs and the Seahawks fanbases have a bit of a decibel arms race going. Seahawks fans set a noise record a few years back by roaring to 136.6 decibels at CenturyLink field. Last October, Chiefs fan broke that record by yelling their way up to the 137.5 mark on the decibel meter.

That record only stood for two months. In December, the Seahawks 12th man laid claim to the record once again by screaming at 137.6 decibels. You can see where this is going.

Each team apparently really wants that record. The Chiefs have started a #LOUDANDPROUD campaign on twitter in hopes of rallying their most vocal troops on Monday night:

We better hope the Chiefs try to set this record early on during Monday's game. With Brady and co. coming to town, there’s a good chance this Arrowhead crowd won’t have much to yell about by the end of the night.

By the way, just how loud is 137 decibels? Pretty loud. According to, a jet engine flying 100 feet overhead produces 140 decibels.
