The world’s worst kept secret is officially out: Gay professional athletes exist.
Jason Collins got the party started last week when he became the first openly gay person currently active in one of the four major team sports. Then Robbie Rogers, a soccer player hoping to return to the MLS, reiterated that, yup, he’s still gay. And now, Charles Barkley, arguably the biggest non-currently active name in the NBA today, has acknowledged that ‘of course’ he has played with gay teammates.
During an interview on the Dan Patrick Show this week, Barkley said this of having a gay teammate: "Of course I did. Everybody did. Everybody played with a gay teammate, Dan. And it’s no big deal."
Barkley’s take on the matter was similar to the one he made on TNT last week when the Collins news broke. You can check it out in the video below.
