With the lion's share of his vitriol still aimed at UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, top 185lbs. contender Chael Sonnen hasn't been finding much negative to say about his soon-to-be opponent Michael Bisping.
The two men, both known for being brash and controversial, will be squaring off this Saturday in the co-main event of UFC on Fox 2: Evans vs. Davis and though he's paid the Englishman a few left-handed compliments along the way, Sonnen has actually allowed for a modicum of respect when discussing The Count.
"How you could ever deny Bisping? I'm just not on that bandwagon," Sonnen recently told USA Today. "I plan to do everything I can do to stop him. But I'm not going to sit here and act as though the guy's not a great fighter. He is."
Though there is a devoted and fairly large group of MMA fans who don't have to think too hard to find something negative to say about Bisping, Sonnen says he just doesn't find himself in the same boat.
"I don't think he carries himself in a shameful way," he said. "I don't really see a lot in the guy that I don't like, so I'm not going to go out and make something up."
Sonnen and Bisping will meet at the United Center in Chicago, Illiois this Saturday night.
