We mentioned earlier that over the years Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett has evolved from being a loser in the literal sense into being a loser in the “don’t pay attention to general decency standards when trash talking” sense.
Well, it appears as though Garnett heard our negative reaction to him saying Detroit Pistons forward Charlie Villanueva looked like a cancer patient, and chose to issue a laughable reply:
"My comment to Charlie Villanueva was in fact 'You are cancerous to your team and our league.'"
Right. That sounds exactly like what Garnett’s trash talk would sound like.
Look, while it is refreshing to see an NBA player issue a statement more than 140 characters, this isn’t what we had in mind. We all know KG said exactly what Villanueva said he said. It fits perfectly with Garnett’s phony, overly-aggressive, act-first-think-later nature.
Why couldn’t he just come out and admit that he made a stupid mistake by saying something he shouldn't have? That it was uncalled for, unacceptable and won't happen again.
