Carlos Condit has been preparing for his shot at the UFC welterweight title for several months now. After having his first opportunity taken away from him, Condit has no plans to let this second chance slip away.
Saturday night, Condit and Nick Diaz will meet in the main event of UFC 143 for the interim UFC welterweight championship. Georges St-Pierre, who currently holds the title, is out due to a knee injury.
Condit and St-Pierre were scheduled to meet up late in 2011, but a strained knee ligament forced the cancellation of the bout. GSP later suffered further damage to the other knee and has since gone through surgery and is in the process of rehab.
Now, "The Natural Born Killer" will try to add UFC gold to his collection that already includes the WEC title. Condit is 27-5 in his career, including four straight victories.
"I feel I'm a more technical fighter than Diaz. I have more weapons in my arsenal," Condit said. "I will defeat Nick Diaz and I will be the UFC welterweight champion."
