Carlos Condit Offers His Take on Jon Jones' Recent Arrest

Publish date:

A sure sign of his stardom, it's been a month since UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was arrested for a DUI and his peers are still being asked to speak on it during interviews.

Carlos Condit, who trains under the same roof as Jones at Jackson-Winkeljohn's in Albuquerque, was asked his opinion on the young champion's mishap while speaking with GracieMag recently. Like many others, Condit believes that Jones will lear from the situation and emerge a better man.

"Jon's a young guy and his success and everything that's come with it has come really, really quick. Sometimes it's hard to adjust and hard to kinda wrap your mind around everything that's happening around you; a lot of it comes with experience," Condit asserted. "He's a young guy, for as well spoken and as incredible as he is in the cage, he's young and he's got a lot of growing up to do.

"And I think that he is a good guy and he is that guy we see on TV. He makes mistakes, he's a human. He's not some superhero, some guy that's above everything. He's just a regular guy. I think that he's definitely gonna learn from his mistakes, learn from the situation he's found himself in and grow from it, and just come out the other side stronger."

Jones is due in the cage this September at UFC 151, where he's scheduled to defend his belt against Dan Henderson.
