Carl Froch will travel to Montreal in March to defend his IBF super-middleweight title against former titlist Lucian Bute.
Froch, 35, beat Bute in sensational style in May, however, the Canadian’s camp has activated the rematch clause which will provide a chance at revenge.
However, Froch has promised to make a defence of his newly acquired title in Nottingham before he ventures to Canada in the New Year.
Bute is understood to be planning a fight for the same night with a view to generating interest in the Montreal rematch.
A list of potential opponents for each fight is likely to be short- Froch has made no secret of his desire to avenge his 2010 points defeat against Mikkel Kessler.
