Brett Rogers vs. Alexander Volkov Set for Bellator 75

Former Strikeforce heavyweight contender Brett Rogers has experienced all the ups and downs of being a pro MMA fighter. Now, Rogers is looking to re-build his stock in Bellator.

Rogers is expected to face Alexander Volkov in the opening round of the Bellator heavyweight tournament. And, with Cole Konrad recently announcing his retirement, the Bellator heavyweight championship is vacant.

Rogers has decided to take his training from Minnesota to Florida, working with American Top Team. "Da Grim" will meet Volkov on October 5 at Bellator 75.

"I've found a new home here at American Top Team and owe a lot of thanks to them," Rogers said. "Coming here has changed my outlook on my career and life, in general, and I'm going to show the world that."

Rogers (12-4) won his first 10 professional fights, including a TKO victory over former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski. However, he was stopped by both Fedor Emelianenko and Alistair Overeem in his next two bouts, and is just 2-4 with one no-contest overall in his last seven. There was also the run-in with police after he was charged with third-degree assault on his wife in 2011.

"A few people stuck by me when the chips were down and helped me get through a terrible period in my life," Rogers said. "It's because of their support that I have a second chance to shine and become something great."
