Brandon Jacobs Seems to Take a Shot at 49ers Brass, Denies It

When the deal was first announced, everyone thought that Brandon Jacobs and the San Francisco 49ers made for a pretty good fit. Alex Smith has never been a particularly reliable quarterback option, which means that any running backs playing alongside him will inevitably see a lot of action. On top of that, Jacobs’ bruising style seemed like an ideal way to take some pressure off Frank Gore – the most underrated running back in the NFL.

Unfortunately, what seemed great theory hasn’t worked out too well in reality. Jacobs battled injuries early in the year, and then when he got better, the 49ers couldn’t seem to find room for him in the offense.

On Thursday, Jacobs sent out these tweets:

Never work in a place where you hate your boss so much, you should always be happy at work.#YouLiveAndYouLearn

Have you ever been in a spot and you wonder why are you there.

Because his team hasn’t been playing him, and because he has spent his entire career saying the first thing that pops into his head, naturally people attributed those tweets to him being frustrated with how he was being utilized.

Not so, apparently.

“People automatically assume it has something to do with this (expletive) sport,” Jacobs told “It’s not. It’s not. I have different companies, and different businesses. I got a life on the outside of football.”

Sure, Jacobs no doubt has other companies outside of football. But how many of those companies include him having a boss that he hates? Typically, rich athletes who have outside ventures don’t have bosses that they hate. That’s one of the main perks of being a rich athlete with outside business ventures.

Either way, though, that’s Jacobs’ excuse and apparently he’s sticking to it.
