College Basketball Bracketography: Last Four Out

Today we take our first look at David Mihm’s bracket over at At this point,  there are five teams competing for the four No. 1 spots. Currently, Mihm has Ohio State, Texas, Duke and Pittsburgh grabbing the four No. 1′s with Kansas on the outside looking in at a 2-seed.

But, we all know those guys are in the tourney. Who are the last four out? How about Okie State, South Carolina, George Mason and Old Dominion. The last four in: Michigan State, Baylor, Virginia Tech, and Washington State. Do you think that Seth Greenberg would love the three-team expansion if his Va Tech squad squeaked in like that. It seems like every year that the Hokies are one of the last teams out and then you look at their non-conference schedule and you just want to scream at the TV, “play somebody and you won’t be crying to Jay Bilas after the selections come out”.

What about the local guys? Mihm has the Wildcats as a 4-seed in the East, where they would play in Tucson. He has them playing Kent State (MAC) in the first round and then facing the winner of West Virginia and UTEP (C-USA). They are in the same bracket as Ohio State, Villanova and BYU, who are the top three seeds.

Louisville comes in as a 5-seed in the Southwest. They would start out with VCU (CAA) in Tampa and then play either Florida or Belmont (A-Sun) to get to the Sweet 16.

I know it’s still early, but if Joe Lunardi can do a bracket in July, why can’t David Mihm and the guys over at Bracketography do one at the beginning of February.

From here on out, we will take a look at their bracket at the beginning of every week. I recommend you head on over to and check out their entire mess of a tournament.
