Big Week Coming Up for Louisville Football

With the Cardinal basketball team ready to begin Big East play, you might think this is truly the start of basketball completely taking over for Louisville fans. However, this week is actually a big week for Charlie Strong’s football program.

It begins Wednesday night at the Under Armour All-American game on ESPN at 7:00 pm. Current Cardinal commitment Eli Rogers, a receiver from Miami Northwestern and teammate of fellow UofL commit Teddy Bridgewater, will give Louisville fans a glimpse of his talent. Rogers has reportedly performed well in the practices and I think Cardinal fans will be very excited about his future after watching him play.

On Thursday, it’s the Nike South Florida All-Star game. Why is this worth paying attention to? Well, talented defensive back Andrew Johnson is scheduled to announce his college decision during that game. The current feeling is Louisville is in great shape with him and most project he will announce for the Cardinals on Thursday.

Finally, Saturday is a potentially huge day for the Charlie Strong’s program. Its the US Army All-American Bowl from San Antonio and the Cards could be well represented. They already have five-star quarterback commit Teddy Bridgewater will be playing, which will not only be great for Cardinal fans to see him perform, but also for the country to see one of the highest rated recruits in the class with the Louisville logo next to his name.

That’s not all.

Four-star defensive back Gerod Holliman will be making his college pick during the broadcast and much like his teammate Andrew Johnson, most feel the Cards are poised to land a commitment. Holliman has told both Scout and Rivals he has made up his mind and is just waiting to announce.

Getting an on-air commitment from a top player like Holliman would be more great publicity for Charlie Strong’s program and could give them even more momentum on the recruiting trail. Gerod is choosing between Louisville, West Virginia, Ole Miss, and LSU.

The US Army All-American game will be Saturday at noon on NBC.
