Anthony Pettis Thinks a Win vs. Donald Cerrone Will Earn Him a Shot at Benson Henderson

Anthony Pettis (15-2) is one of only two fighters who has been able to defeat Benson Henderson (18-2). In their only encounter, Pettis won Henderson's WEC lightweight championship back in 2010. Since then, both men have joined the UFC roster.

"It does feel like a long time ago," said Pettis to MMA Junkie. "Watching that [highlight versus Henderson] and where I'm at now, it feels like an eternity. Watching fights, watching all these guys advance their careers, and I'm in this spot [injured]. Beating 'Cowboy' gets me back in the mix."

Pettis challenges Donald Cerrone (19-4-1 NC) next, with talk that the winner could be in line for a lightweight title shot. The two meet at UFC on FOX 6 from the United Center. The January 26 card airs from Chicago, IL.

Pettis has been inactive for most of the year due to lingering injuries. Cerrone is coming off a pair of wins this year in the form of Jeremy Stephens (20-9) and Melvin Guillard (30-11-2-1 NC).
