Anthony Davis Trademarks His Unibrow Days Before 2012 NBA Draft

Publish date:

Anthony Davis decided to do something really special just days before Thursday’s 2012 NBA draft – he trademarked his world famous unibrow.

Along with the unibrow, Davis also trademarked a few catchphrases attributed to his well-known look: “fear the brow” and “raise the brow.” Both of those sayings will likely land the former University of Kentucky standout some nice endorsement deals once he's officially in the NBA.

While the NCAA forbids players from signing any sponsorship deals, come next season, Davis is open for business. The general consensus seems to be that he's about to earn himself a hefty paycheck from his under-groomed eyebrows.

Davis told CNBC the reasoning behind his savvy business decision was, “I don’t want anyone to try to grow a unibrow because of me and then try to make money off of it…Me and my family decided to trademark it because it’s very unique.”

With the New Orleans Hornets winning the draft lottery a few weeks back, Davis figures to end up there next year. On the heels of his U.S. College Player of the Year nod, Davis is also in the running for a place on the 2012 U.S. Olympic basketball team.

A unibrow that might have been considered unsightly back in the day is now Davis' greatest asset at the next level.

One thing is for sure regarding Davis’s future: no tweezers are getting near those brows.
