Fresh off the 2010 National Championship, Duke got more good news Monday when forward Kyle Singler announced his decision to return to the Blue Devils for his senior season in 2010-2011. While some had speculated Singler would forgo his final season to head for the NBA, I always saw Singler as the Shane Battier type. Dedicated to the Duke program, Coach K, and his education.
While Singler’s decision to stay makes Duke better, it’s unclear right now how the Blue Devils will play next season. With Brian Zoubek and Lance Thomas gone, the Blue Devils will likely play a smaller lineup. This could push Singler to the four spot more often and force him to guard bigger people on the defensive end. That being said, those bigger people are going to have their hands full trying to guard Singler on the perimeter.
Singler had this to say:
“I love being here at Duke and am excited about next year. I had two great options in front of me, but I did not want to miss out on all of the great things to come in a senior season.”
