PokerStars Macau at Casino Grand Lisboa will once again play host the Macau Millions Apr. 2-10.
Last year, the event managed set a new record for player numbers in Asia with 741 entries.
This year, the HKD$2,200 main event comes with an HKD$1.5 million prize pool guarantee.
"There's every reason to think that PokerStars Macau at Grand Lisboa will be the first to cross the 1000-player mark in Asia this year," said Team PokerStars Pro Celina Lin.
"Two years ago, players put up $10,000 for a million dollar guarantee in the Red Dragon event. They're now awarding more prize money at a fraction of the entry fee."
The unique structure in the event allows players to enter any and all of seven Day 1 starting heats.
Each Day 1 plays down to 7% of the field with those surviving progressing to Day 2 already in the money.
Players are welcome to try again on a subsequent starting heat and should they progresss to Day 2 twice, they would take the largest stack with them.
While the Macau Millions will have to wait for April, the online poker site is hosting the Macau Poker Cup Feb. 21-27 featuring the HKD$3 million guaranteed HKD$11,000 Red Dragon main event.
But with stars like Phil Ivey and Tom "durrrr" Dwan whale hunting in the big cash games on the Chinese Island, both events could be star-studded affairs.
